Crown Reduction of a Mature Oak

A closer look at how our City & Guilds NPTC qualified arborists planned and delivered this project safely across North Yorkshire.

Location

Harrogate, North Yorkshire

Work Type

Crown Reduction

A long-established oak in a private Harrogate garden had become heavy and overextended, casting deep shade across the lawn and posing a risk to a nearby boundary wall during high winds.

The Approach

We carried out a careful crown reduction of around 25%, reshaping the canopy to retain the tree’s natural form while reducing weight on the longer limbs. All deadwood was removed and the major union points were inspected for decay.

The result is a healthier, better-balanced tree that lets far more light into the garden, with all arisings chipped and removed from site the same day.
